an exchange and some quilt blocks

I was in an ABC exchange this month. I mailed my piece off to my partner yesterday. She received it today. Go post office!

I made the ABC Pinkeep by With Thy Needle & Thread. This is how it turned out.

I have also been working on my Farmer's Wife quilt. I redid the first square, and got it the right size this time.  (I will be keeping the too small square... I might put it on the back as some kind of signature square.) Then I did two more squares. I don't like applique. It always looks puckery when I do it. The basket handle is proof of this. Ah well.

It was mentioned that maybe I could do a tie-down thing for the quilt top I just finished. I do love that look on some quilts, but really want that finished top to be quilted. That and I have a cat that loves to eat loose or free threads.... heh. So, the top will wait until I think of what to do. It isn't like I don't have a million other things to keep me busy. snerk.

A new quilt top

Decided to start that new quilt top yesterday.

I have even successfully put together the first block.

Sorry about the colours in that photo. The sun is hiding behind some serious gray clouds today. Sadly that block measures 6 inches when it needs to be 6 1/2. sigh. I am still proud of it. :) Even if it isn't perfect.  My first time hand stitching a quilt block. I will be re-doing it today. Sigh. May I get 6 1/2 this time.

I also started the next motif on Sarah Tatum.

Again, bad colours/lighting.

quilt top finished

I finished up my quilt top.

Feels good to have it done. Felt nice to use my old treadle machine too. Now, however I have no clue how to quilt it. I have never done that by hand and buying a new machine is out of the budget right now. Maybe I will see about.... hand quilting it. Maybe. That just seems a bit past daunting for me. heh.

For now, I will just call it done.... and start in on another quilt top. This one I am going to hand piece. I am crazy.

After IHSW

I did actually stitch this weekend. I also went to the fair. Not much else got done as I am still getting over being sick... going to the fair might not have been a good idea. sigh

WIPocalypse September edition

It has been a very non-stitching month for me. I really have hardly touched a needle.

All I have done is start a new piece.  Sarah Tatum.

It is also IHSW this weekend. I hope I can get some good stitching time in. I rather miss it.

some other things

I've not done any stitching this past weekend. It was The Kid's 15th birthday.  Yikes! We were out camping for it.
Then I decided, since my normal sewing machine died on me, that I would see if I could figure out how to use my old one. The really old one. The treadle sewing machine.

Um... that was a learning curve. I think I have it down now. We will see if I can actually finish the top now.

I have been a part of the Scarlet Letter Year blog this year. Last month my name was drawn for a prize. I got this chart.

I am excited! Not a single clue when I will start it, but... at least it is now in my stash... right?

Then I also got my PTP order in the mail.

Herm.... the colours are a bit off in the photo. Anyhow.... I am excited with these colours, they are almost exactly what I wanted. The middle one is a touch lighter than I expected, but not really a problem. Who knows when I will get to the planned projects for all this fabric, but at least I now have the fabric.

What?! Another post!

I might just be getting back into this blogging thing again.

I was going to work on my quilt top yesterday. I am almost at the halfway point and getting really happy about it. I sat down at the sewing machine and... nothing. The sucker has up and died on me. Not just a little dead, but major dead. Looks like I am in the market for a new sewing machine. One I can use for regular sewing and for quilting. sigh.

I ended up doing a bit of stitching yesterday.

Any progress is good progress. Oops. That photo is kinda blurry. Sorry about that.

I am hoping I can get that motif finished today/tonight. Though I am going to be rather busy and out of the house most of the day/night. Maybe the stitching elves will help me.

Still here. Really

Adjusting to The Kid being in high school is.... well, an adjustment. I think things are finally beginning to start to fall into place. We will see if I am right.

I have finally been able to start getting back into my stitching.

I started another Scarlet Letter piece. This one is Sarah Tatum. I am using Vikki's silk conversion.

We will see how much more stitching I get in over the next few days. My weekend is full up of camping.
